Victorious at last

After last years disappointing rejection from BYU's dietetics program my pride was wounded, so I decided to stick it to the man and prove it to myself that I could get accepted. Consequently, this year with absolutely zero intention to start the program at BYU in the fall, I applied. In about 45 minutes I concocted some pretty sweet information about myself (it was all true, don't worry) and cut and pasted a few sentences from past essays and voila- the finished application. My interview with the director went wonderfully and a week later I received an acceptance letter in the mail. Enoch has been a great supporter through it all, last year when I was not accepted Enoch used his secret ninja skills and had one of the full time employees at the shop deliver flowers to me while at the Urology Clinic. This year Enoch was their while I opened the letter and screamed like a little school boy in celebration, he's the best.
I triumphantly accepted the spot in the class as a back up in case plans change and now I am left to reflect on the event. Why is it that sometimes when you don't work very hard for things, you get them even though at a previous point in your life you worked your tail off with no such love? I guess I just don't always understand the direction that I am supposed to proceed in and so at times I am gently and other times forcefully corrected. Regardless, I have learned many things in the entire process. For one, my worth is not associated with the success, wealth, or prestige I gain in this life- It is innate and comes from the fact that I am a child of God. I also have a major tendency to rush through life instead of enjoying the little things, and recognizing all that I have. Finally, I have come to recognize how I best learn and have come to enjoy learning more. So the moral of my life is if you first don't succeed try, try, again and that is what I keep doing.

Weekend Warriors

After inheriting a well loved and interestingly adorned table and four chairs from a family in my home ward, Enoch and I have attempted our first refinishing project. When Enoch took one of the chairs into the carpentry/ paint shop their first reaction was, "run," well three Saturdays later, sanded fingerprints, sore backs, frozen bodies, sunburn, and $12 of sandpaper into the project, we realized they were right. Whoever thought spindles was a good idea was wrong, very wrong! We better love those cursed chairs when we are done is all I can say. Anyhow, it has been fun making the epoch journey to my parents house each Saturday to work on the famed chairs (the only furniture we have to our names.) Enoch has proven himself the true hero in the project and has diligently worked as I come and go. We love the adventure of newly married life!

Delaware vs Cal State Northridge

The decision of where to attend school in the fall has been consuming our lives for the past six months and is finally coming to a head. However, the real decision really comes down to which mascot do we prefer. For the last few weeks we have tried to weigh our options considering tuition costs, program rank, living expenses, difficulty to get residency, the dietetic program, among others and at last we are at square one. So options of wearing a shirt with either a blue hen or a matador is what we are reduced to.

Love, true love

Dec 20, 2008-
Enoch and I were married for forEVER! It was an amazing day, from the sentimental luncheon with stories from our families, my favorite breakfast food in the world, being sealed for all eternity with my best friend, a princess cape, beautiful white snow, a gorgeous and elegant reception all dreamed up by my amazing mom, caramel apple sundaes even in the snow, getting to be with some of my favorite people in the world, and falling asleep next to the boy I love. Oh how I love marriage, for the unique challenge of building an identity together, making big decisions, going on hot dates whenever you want, and so much more. Plus I inherited 2 more parents, 9 more brother and sisters, and 10 nieces and nephews!
